Human Women, Angels and Sex!

I think it’s fair to say that most of us have been exposed to the idea that many people believe that angels have been sexually involved with human females before the Noachian Deluge, and produced hybrid creatures from these sexual encounters. The Book of Enoch claims this to be true and labels these creatures as “Nephilim.”
There appears to be relentless interest on social media in what this alleged ancient book says about these creatures. Additionally, because the book of Jude quotes the Book of Enoch, it presents the question: why wasn’t Enoch included in the Biblical Canon? This is a question we answer in Blog #41, which is listed on our Blog page. We’d like to suggest reading it for additional background to this Blog.
However, it’s amazing as to how much attention has been attracted to this idea that “spiritual beings,” called Watchers (a.k.a. angels), were able to have sexual encounters with physical human females, which produced alleged giants called Nephilim.
In “1 Enoch 7:1-2,” we are told that these angels were enamored with the beauty of the human women and took them for their wives. Samayaza, their leader, cautioned the angels who sought to involve themselves in these sexual relationships, and together they swore a bond to take responsibility for this activity. Verse 7 tells us that about 200 of these rogue angels breached this boundary. The story continues and claims the women brought forth “giants” that grew to about 450 feet tall (300 cubits, using 18” / cubit). [That’s about the size of the Statue of Liberty.]
These giants eventually turned against mankind and devoured the men, and injured the birds, beasts, reptiles, and fish, to the point that they ate their flesh and drank their blood (1 Enoch 7:11-14).
Ultimately, according to this story, Michael and Gabriel got involved and announced to Samayaza and the other angels associated with the women that they would be bound until the day of judgment and consummation, and would be destroyed for the tyrannical control they exercised over mankind (1 Enoch 10:12-18).
Clearly, this narrative cuts across the Biblical Canonized scriptures and presents a complete contradiction of what our Bible tells us about the possibility of angels cohabiting with human women and producing offspring. Keep in mind, angels don’t make “baby” angels. They are created beings!
Notice what Jesus says about the possibility of angels having sexual relations with human women. The Sadducees (who don’t believe in the resurrection) ask Jesus whose wife this woman will be in the resurrection, since she was married to seven men (Matt. 22:23-28). Jesus says: “You do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
For in the resurrection (as immortal spirit beings) they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven” (Matt. 22:29-30). This last part explains that this “human institution” will no longer exist when we are immortal. There will be no need for the “marriage institution” as it was when we were human.
By association, we can also recognize that sexual activity among these “born” sons of God has also run its course and expired.
In the book of Mark, the same story is reported, but from Mark’s point of view. Jesus replies: “Do you not therefore err, because you know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead (as an immortal spirit being), they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven” ( Mark 12:24-25). Here again, it is substantiated by another disciple that marriage as an institution for immortals is meaningless. There is no reason for it. And since sexual relations are sanctioned only when marriage is involved, by extension, we’re being told that sexual activity will no longer be conducted.
In Luke, we are told the same story, but with an additional point of insight. Notice how Jesus responds in this narrative. “…The children of the world marry, and are given in marriage (espoused). But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world (the spirit world), and the resurrection (immortality) from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection” (Luke 20:34-36).
In Luke’s narrative, he not only agrees with Matthew and Mark, but adds one more interesting item for consideration: angels don’t die. Why? Because they are made of spirit! They are immortal beings. Neither do they marry nor make baby angels!
So, if we are understanding this right, three witnesses explain that marriage is no longer useful, and by association, neither is sexual activity. And it would stand to reason that, because there are no “physical” body fluids contained in the embodiment of a spirit being, impregnation would be impossible! So, who then are the “sons of God mentioned in Genesis six?
In Genesis six, we are told “that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. …There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown” (Gen. 6:2-4).
However, interestingly, in Genesis 4, we read that Adam and Eve had another son named Seth, who was appointed by God to replace Abel. Notice: “And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth; For God, has appointed me (Eve) another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. And to Seth, to him also there was born a son: and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord” (Gen. 4:25-26). Simply stated, they began to call the sons of Seth by the name of the Lord–– the “sons of God!”
Clearly, the sons of God mentioned in Genesis 6:2 are none other than the sons of Seth! It’s the Plain Truth about this subject. Cross-breeding between the spirit (Immortal) world and the physical (mortal) world is NOT possible, and there are no scriptures that support such a possibility or condition. Christ was clear: no marriage after we’re resurrected! And if there is no marriage, there cannot be any sexual activity among the resurrected “immortal” saints in God’s Kingdom! Otherwise, we have God’s Kingdom full of unmarried fornicating spirit beings–– and that is PURE NONSENSE, as is this teaching from the book of Enoch!
